The Flat on Dumaine

The Flat on Dumaine The following excerpts are from journal entries from the late 1990s-early 2000s.

Tommy is actually the one that found the flat for us, and it was something from my dreams. There is a one-bedroom townhouse with wood floors, a living room, bathroom, and kitchen with a walk-in closet. Red and black brick walls, an iron spiral staircase, French doors in the bedroom, opening up to the balcony, overlooking the courtyard.

This place has been our refuge from New Orleans and everything that has happened up until now. Winter has passed, and spring is coming to an end. The heat is taking over the Quarter in a surge of waves. First, a stop in Texas to collect ourselves and plan, then to California. On the horizon, beautiful weather, school, and our home together.
