May 9, 2002 – The French Market

The following excerpts are from journal entries from the late 1990s-early 2000s.

Spent the day with Tommy. We went to the French Market, which was thoroughly enjoyable. They sell Cajun spices, Creole foods, fresh fish, and produce daily. You can find everything there, from imported handcrafted African masks to alligator heads, to cheap plastic mardi gras beads. It is like a flea market in some foreign destination. I bought some handmade bone beads and hairpins from India. Tommy is doing a little better. He got a job, and I convinced him to go to the doctor.

Tomorrow is my last day at work, and we are leaving Monday. There are some things I will really miss about this place…
